Explorathon is all about celebrating the incredible variety of research happening today and showing how it touches every part of our lives. Through a packed calendar of events, this festival brings researchers to the forefront, offering young people, along with their parents and teachers, a unique opportunity to peek behind the curtain and discover what makes research so vital and exciting.

A month-long exploration

Explorathon isn’t just a weekend event—it’s a full month of discovery. Throughout September, you’ll find a wide range of activities taking place around Scotland, in locations around Aberdeen, Glasgow and Dundee.  From hands-on workshops that spark creativity to talks from real researchers, there’s something for everyone.

The official Explorathon weekend runs from Friday 27 September to Sunday 29 September. During this time, events will be happening all around Europe as part of the European Researchers’ Night, but in Scotland, the exploration starts early and continues all month long.
