Work by clinical geneticists at the University of Aberdeen have identified breast and ovarian cancer genes in families from Orkney and Shetland. Lab science and and population genetics have helped to pilot a new origin-based approach that could bring testing to those who need it wherever they are living now, saving lives and also NHS budgets.

Professor Zosia Miedzybrodzka will discuss the discovery journey, just how much has been achieved and the way forward.
